People will copy your content, and there’s nothing you can do about it!

This is an excerpt from an interesting article over at friendlybit.com called, " Follow the 10 ground rules, or fail on the web!" - Very good stuff there.. check out the excerpt below: People will copy your content, and there’s nothing you can do about it! Some people are worried about the copying of their content. And if they see that as an issue, they better be worried. You see, each time someone reads your texts, or looks at your media, it’s copied from your server to the users computer. Web browsers are really effective copyright infringement machines, and by just clicking a link, you copy that page. So if you are worried about users copying your content, please don’t put it online at all . Other people think that they can have their content on the web, and still prevent people from copying it. This is pure lunacy, and all ways to prevent copying have failed. People even miss the most obvious way people can copy, by hitting the “Print screen” button on their keyboards

Cleaning the BlackBerry trackball

CLICK HERE FOR ORIGINAL ARTICLE - I DID NOT WRITE THIS CONTENT WARNING: Do this at your own risk All these pictures are thumbnails so if you need a closer look, just click on them. Pop off the retaining plastic piece. You can use anything really(small screwdriver, fingernail, whatever) just be careful not to break off the clips that keep it in place. As you can see if you keep your Pearl in your pocket it quickly sucks up all the lint it can. Hehe With the plastic retaining clip off you can now remove the assembly. There is also metal retaining clip on top of the trackball assembly, you must remove that first. It is very delicate, so be CAREFUL not to bend it. It's already removed it the picture above. Now as you can see the magnetic rollers is what actually makes the trackball work. It sticks right to my screwdriver, which makes for easy removal. Now it's out you may want to blow a little canned air into the where the assembly sits and make sure all is clean in there. Now

Got home from work a few weeks ago, and this little beauty was hanging out right outside our front door! I watched her for awhile and after a few minutes, she just stopped moving. Perhaps she saw me watching her so intently?

My basement studio

I know it's not much of a "studio" but its a start. Eventually, I'd LOVE to be able to record Schnauzer down there. I just need to invest about $4000 in mics, new monitors, preamps and a new audio interface..

Welcome to Cleveland, asshole...

Image
Well the cold finally came to us this week. It was 30 this morning and 35 yesterday. When I stepped into my jeep to motor to work, there was a light dusting of SNOW on the hood. Made me feel all warm and cozy knowing that I have a car that can basically not be stopped. The 4 wheel drive on my jeep is awesome. But not that awesome. Last winter, we got hit with 18 inches of snow. It was so bad that I dont think I could have driven through it. It took me a good 3 hours to shovel the driveway. Damn. So if you live in Cleveland, have a party to welcome old man winter. If you are visiting or somehow chose to relocate here, then I say to you, welcome to Cleveland, asshole! Michael Dell 'Friends' his customers

Image
(Fortune Magazine) -- Write something about Dell online, and chances are the company will know about it in an hour or so. Dis the company in a blog or a Facebook group, and someone from a crack response team may even chime in, if only to let everyone know that Dell cares. Spooky? Well, this is a new Dell ( DELL , Fortune 500 ): a little more attentive online, and a little more paranoid. When Michael Dell took back the reins of his company in early 2007, one of his first acts as CEO was to give its web strategy a kick in the pants. The computer maker had plenty of hairy business problems to deal with - financial irregularities, a stagnating stock, profits down 28% in a year - but perhaps the most embarrassing was the thrashing its brand had taken online. On tech blogs and consumer forums, Dell had become almost a byword for lousy customer service. It may be hard to remember now, but the company used to be as famous for good service as it was for good prices. In the early days Michael De

I got to the polls at 6:24 am!

For the first time ever in my life, I went to vote before work. This is a landmark in the life of Scott Schumacher. Ive always voted after work, but this morning I went early. Dawn and I got to Fairview city hall around 6:25am and there were already about 50+ people ahead of us in line. As soon as they opened the doors, we were able to step inside and wait at our specific table. This also is my first experience with a fill in the dot type voting system. It was kinda cool and old school to fill in the dots, and have such a hands-on approach to something that so important. I think, however, next presidential election, I will vote with my absentee ballott. Those used to scare me. Like, what happens if it gets lost? Will my vote count? Anyways, I know its kinda dorky, but I feel good about voting early.. Like I was one of the 1st to vote in the 2008 election. An historic event for everyone, and for my voting habits.
