The php game and just how far behind I am with coding and web development

I swear I knew what I was doing about 7 years ago. Flash was on the verge of becoming a great animation tool and photoshop and fireworks exported enough code to make a cool looking site.

Today, everything is different. I don't know anything about ajax or actionscript 3, and I just learning php. Wow am I behind the times.

How do I even begin to compete with young developers!??
